About Sterilization and Vaccination of Dogs

As per the ABC (Animal Birth Control) Programme of the government, sterilization of dogs should be undertaken to ensure population control of stray dogs. Killing or hurting them is a criminal offence. Along with sterilization, the dogs also need to be vaccinated against rabies and other diseases to prevent transmission of fatal diseases.

As a part of the ‘Stray Together’ initiative, Utkarsh will undertake sterilization and vaccination of every stray dog in the area. Once they are sterilized, their population will be in control and you will not find many of them wandering around or their number increasing.

Vaccinated dogs are not a threat as they will be healthy and well. You will no longer have to fear them.

Proper Records

Proper records of dogs in a manual register format along with society members post completion of sterilization and vaccination of dogs (so outside dogs can be identified). The record will help to keep a check on animals and if any outside dog enters the area, it will be easier to track them, catch them, sterilize and vaccinate them.

Responsibility of Treatment

Utkarsh will take responsibility of treatment of these dogs 24X7 with the help of animal lovers including society members: Once the dogs are identified, Utkarsh will implement the ‘Voice of Voiceless’ initiative through which we will take care of the animals, their treatment, food and care through animal lovers. The process will also make the dogs friendlier and ensure their care and welfare.

Radium Collars

Thousands of dogs die in accidents every year in India. The reason is when dogs roam around at night, they are not visible to motorists. In such accidents, along with the animals, the drivers too are at risk. Once the dogs are sterilized and vaccinated, Utkarsh will tie a radium collar around the dog. It would serve two purposes - one, it will increase their visibility at night and prevent accidents and second, the radium collar will also have information about the dog and that they are sterilized and vaccinated.
